A. Submission
All ad material must be submitted to Stars and Stripes Production electronically. We do not accept laser prints, photo stats, or film as final art. Hard copies must be provided with all ads. Hard copies for ads sent electronically should be faxed to your sales representative. Color proofs should be submitted for color ads. Laser proofs are adequate for black and white ads.
B. Preferred file format:
- Ads created in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, or Illustrator
- All fonts converted to outlines
- All images embedded
- All images at a minimum of 180dpi, max 300dpi
- Make art board (document border) the size of the ad
- No paths outside the art board (document border)
- Color set to CMYK (no RGB)
- Ads sent as a PDF must be distilled at version 1.3
- Ads sent as a PDF

C. Three ways to transfer files to Stars and Stripes
- 1. E-mail - Stuffit or Zipped files can be sent to your
central office multimedia consultant.
- 2. FTP - Files may be uploaded to our FTP site. A name and
password are required to login, so prior arrangements must be made. Please
call your Multimedia Consultant for details.
- 3. On File Transfer - A secured online file transfer
platform. (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc...)

Stars and Stripes will accept Interactive and Expandable advertising but does not have the ability to serve these ads internally; the additional cost for arranging Rich Media serving will be added to our CPM rates. We do not accept Floating Ads.
Specifications for Rich Media
- Initial download on page load is 40K maximum; more data may be called after page has loaded.
- Can be static image, or Rich Media (Interactive or Expandable).
- All rich media ads require user interaction (mouse rollover, click, etc.) to expand; autoplay on page load is not permitted.
- Ads activated by mouse rollover must immediately contract when the user rolls off the ad.
- Audio allowed on click or mouse rollover, 15-30 seconds max (if ad includes audio, default setting must be to OFF; user action required to turn sound ON).
Important Note:
Stars and Stripes does not accept
any ads that attempt to impersonate operating system (OS) or browser
functions.
